Mansfield - Queen Elizabeth Grammar School WW2

Housed in the cricket pavilion on the school playing fields. The board has names from WW1 and WW2 as well as 2 names from the Korean war.
K W Eastgate (Keith Walter: Lieut Royal Engineers DOB 15/6/1928-DOD 22/4/1951) and
N E Wykes ( Neil E: Acting Sgt 5th Royal Inneskilling Dragoon Guards: DOB 4/10/1929-DOD 4/9/1952).
A lot of the information was found in the Old Elizabethans Service Roll book compiled by the Mansfield Grammar School Service Fund Committee. The Service Fund Committee was set up to provide gifts and greetings to former school fellows. 650 Old Boys of Queen Elizabeth School joined H.M forces in the World War of 1939-1945.

In Honour of Old Boys. Plaque Unveiled at Boys' Grammar School.
Two bronze plaques simply inscribed with tribute to the service rendered by Old Boys of the Queen Elizabeth Boys' Grammar School during two World Wars were unveiled in the School Assembly Hall yesterday.
During World War 1 250 Old Boys served of these 33 were killed, died or were missing. In the 1939-45 war 650 served and the death roll numbered 48.
