Family history

Son of George Allcroft and Jessie Brown Smith of Wellow. He had a younger sister, Irene (1922). George was a farmer and by 1939 he was a seed merchant.
In 1921 Robert was living with his parents at Scotland Farm, Worksop by 1939 they were living on Eakring Road Wellow and Robert was listed as already a member of the RAF and was serving with 101 Sqdn.
He had a sister, Irene who was born on 23rd July 1922.

Military history

Flew from Wyton for a day flight for reconnaissance, photograhing airfields, and they crashed near Gross Berssen near Meppen. They were shot down by Lt Heinz Lange flying a Messerschmitt Bf109D.
He was the wireless operator and air gunner.

He was buried at Rheinberg War Cemetery, Germany plot on 17. B. 9 on the 3rd of November 1939.
