Military history

Old Elizabethans Service Roll: L.A.C Eric Walton was killed in a plane crash in Canada in the summer of 1941 while training as a pilot. His last letter home to the Hon Secretary of the Service Fund Committeewas dated April 9th 1941 from the RAF station at Medicine Hat, Albert. The letter describes the training in fighter planes and continues;
"We all like the kites and enjoy every minute in the air".
He was flying in a Harvard II serial number 2719 it crashed near Holsam Alberta while conducing a night flying exercise. Flying Officer A.F.M McClean also died in the accident.
Medicine Hat was a Service Flying Training School.
