Parents were Arthur and Mary Margaret Caunt and along with Elsie he had 2 younger brothers, Jonathon and Alfred.
On 1st August 1936 he married Jean Kendal Kitchen at St Mary Magdalen Church Sutton in Ashfield. They had 2 daughters, Diane born 1937 and Jennifer born 1943.
His father in law worked as a butcher.

Military history

According to the Old Elizabethan Service Roll William was stationed at Shallufa ( a RAF station in operation from 1942 to 1944.) as part of the RAF Police.
William died of typhoid fever on the 27th of July 1945 at No 19 General Hospital, Egypt and was buried at Fayid War Cemetery, plot 5. F.3.
