Family history

Son of Thomas and Ellen Shields of Clipstone.
In 1921 Thomas and Ellen where living at 47 North Avenue, Rainworth and Thomas worked for Bolsover Colliery Company at Rufford Colliery. In the mid 1920's Bolsover Colliery Company built Clipstone Colliery and the village of New Clipstone so persumably Thomas moved to work at the new pit.

Military history

Old Elizabethan's Service Roll: Trooper Norman Shields died in the British General Hospital Cairo on October 1st 1940. He joined the Sherwood Rangers in May 1939. After training in England he was on foreign service in Palestine from January 1940 until his date of death.
