
Frederick Moxon
Attened Queen Elizabeth School 1922 to 1927 and went to Nottingham University.
He taught at Forest Town School for 11 years.
A member of St Alban's Church and their choirmaster for a number of years. He was a member of Mansfield Colliery Ambulance Team and in 1939 he was an APR warden/medical services.

Son of William and Hannah Moxon of Grove Villa, Grove Street, Mansfield Woodhouse.
Frederick married Alice Annie Murden in 1932. They had 3 children, Jocelyn 1934, John 1936, and Frederick Peter in 1940.
Alice married again in 1950 to Frank Brown
HMS Harvester: On North Atlantic Convoy protection. Left St John's Canada on 6th March 1943. They located U-444 on the surface and rammed it, but U-444 became wedged under the stern and caused major structural damage, it was stuck under the stern for 10 mins.The next day she was torpedoed by U-432 and she broke in two. 9 officers and 136 ratings were lost. The French corvette "Aconit" then rammed and sank U-432 before picking up Harvester's survivors.
Frederick is remembered on the Chatham Naval Memorial panel 71. 2

It is reported that Ord Telegraphist Frederick Moxon, who lived at "Darlyn" Violet Hill, Forest Town has been lost at sea.
A native of Mansfield Woodhouse and an old boy at mansfield Grammar School he was trained at Nottingham University and has been a teacher st Forest Town for 11 years. A prominent member of Mansfield Colliery Ambulance Team he was for a period choirmaster of St Alban's Church.
