Attended Queen Elizabeth School from 1928 to 1937.
He was an articled clerk to a charted accountant as was his older brother Edward. Their father ran a grocery shop which also sold wine and spirits.

Son of Ernest Reuban and Carrie Walton of 60 Station Road, East Kirkby. Eric had 5 siblings
Edward (1920), Mary (1921), Nellie (1922) and twins Catherine & John born in 1929.

Military history

Flew a Halifax III serial number MZ844. They took off from Melbourne, Derbyshire to attack a V2 site in the Pas-de-Calais area. Their's was one of three aircraft lost on the raid.

Old Elizabeathan's Service Record:
Was killed over Watton near St Omer, France when captain of a Halifax Bomber on August 25th 1944. Two members of the crew were flung from the plane and injured but they were helped by the French. Four others are buried in the cemetery at Brugens near St Omer.
As there are also two unidentified graves there, it is persumed that the body of Eric is interred in one of them.
Eric joined the forces in June 1941, and on his last flight was Acting First officer. He was the son of Mr Ernest R Walton of East Kirkby and brother of Temporary Lt Edeard Walton R.N.V.R

His older brother, Edward, served in the Royal Navy.
