West Stockwith - St Mary the Virgin Church

St Mary the Virgin, Main Street (East Side), West Stockwith, DN10 4EX. The board is on the north wall of the chancel. Dedication: 'The reredos and communion rails of this church with this tablet were erected in the year 1922 by the Misses Longstaff and parishioners. To the glory of God and in sacred memory of the following men from this parish who gave their lives in the Great War 1914-1918 (names) RIP. A tablet has been placed below the original memorial: 'The Great War 1914-1919. This tablet is placed in this church by the congregation in grateful memory of the following who made the great sacrifice (names). Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15.13 (names)' There are 20 names on the tablet, 16 of whom are also named on the board.
