Family history
Bruce was born at Walkeringham in 1893, the son of John a chemcal works labourer and Esther Revill (nee Pearce). He had four siblings :- William Pearce born 1889,Emily born 1896,Henry Proctor 1898 and Bertha 1899. In the 1911 census the family are living at Pump Yard, West Stockwith by this time his father is a widow and he is 18 years of age and his occupation is that of a farm labourer.
Military history
George enlisted at East Retford and served with the 1/6th battalion of the Sherwood Foresters. He was killed in action o 3rd October 1918 and he is commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois memorial France
