Aspley Nottingham (St Margaret's Church) World War Two
This memorial, unveiled in 1953, commemorates 37 Aspley men killed during World War Two. The plaque is located at the foot of the clock tower close to the main entrance of St Margaret's Church, Aspley Lane NG8 5GE (consecrated in 1933). However, CWGC's Dept of Honour database also lists a further 36 Second World War fatalities whose next of kin gave Aspley, Nottingham addresses. Some of these contacts may have been from people moving into the area post-war but at least 21 of them were Aspley residents in 1939. An Aspley Virtual memorial has been created to honour this second group as research continues.
