He was the son of John and Annie Woolley and the brother of Nacy Woolley of 53, Ambleside, Aspley, Nottingham.

Military history

Woolley was the flight engineer aboard Lancaster I ME685 which took off 2020 5 April 1944 from Spilsby to attack an aircraft works. Hit by Flak exploding with great force and crashed 0030 6 April 1944 apx 5 km SE of the city. No survivors. Fatalities: Woolley + Frank Thomas Bruce, John Thornton Reed (AB), Stanley Walter Sayce (N), John Raymond Senior (P), William John Waycott & Henry Wilson.
