Military history

John Thomas Gill was the wireless operator aboard Lancaster III ND58 which took off 0125 9 May 1944 to bomb rail yards. Homebound shot down by a night-fighter flown by Lt Wilhelm Marstaller 1. No survivors. Fatalities: Gill + James Matthew Buckley (FE), William Mclaurin Chase (P), Ronald Denver Daniels (AG), Gordon Winston Knupp (N), William Sinclair (BA) & Claude Michaels Sylvah (AG).
