Family History

Wilfred Henry Wade was born in 1895 at Normanton and was the son of Frederick a railway clerk and Sarah Jane Wade née Riley of 1 Hawksworth Road, West Bridgford. His father Frederick was born in 1858 at Buckden, Huntingdon and his mother Sarah Jane Riley was born in 1856 at Derby, they were married in 1883 their marriage was recorded in the Derby registration district. They went on to have the following children, Mabel b1885, Bertha Lizzie b1886, Jeannie b1889, Nora b1891, Sarah Winifred b1893 and Wilfred Henry b1895 all were born in the Derby registration district. In the 1911 census the family are living at 4 Trevelyan Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham and are shown as Frederick 53 yrs a railway clerk, he is living with his wife Sarah Jane 55 yrs and their children, Bertha 25 yrs a dress maker, Sarah Winifred 18 yrs a packer and Wilfred Henry 16 yrs a grocers assistant.

Military History

Rifleman Wilfred Henry Wade, enlisted at Nottingham in September 1914, he served with “B” Company, 13th Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps. He landed in France on 30th July 1915 and died of wounds on 8th January 1916. He is buried in Humbercamps Communal Cemetery Extension.
