Herbert Haydn Wilmot was born in 1892 at Bulwell and was the son of the late Curtis a house painter and Mary Ann Wilmot, née Joyce of 39, Highbury Avenue, Bulwell, Nottingham. His father Curtis was born in 1861 at Bulwell, he died in 1901 aged 40 yrs, his mother Mary Ann Joyce was born in in 1863 at Stamford, Lincolnshire, they were married in 1888 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they went on to have the following children, Annie Rebecca b1890, Herbert Haydn b1892 and Ronald Curtis b1895, all were born in Bulwell. In the 1911 census the family are living at Excelsior House, Main Street, Bulwell and are shown as Curtis Wilmot 50 yrs a hose painter he is living with his wife Mary Ann 48 yrs and their children, Annie Rebecca 21 yrs working as a domestic at home, Herbert Haydn 19 yrs a house painter and Ronald Curtis 16 yrs a house painter.
Private Herbert Haydn Wilmot enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 12th battalion Alexandra Princess of Wale's Own (Yorkshire Regiment) He died on 14th April 1918 of wounds received in action and is buried in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery.

Also in loving memory of Herbert Haydn Wilmot the beloved eldest son of Curtis and Mary Ann Wilmot who died in France April 14th 1918 from wounds received in action.
