Born Jan/Feb/Mar 1888, the son of John and Emma Barratt. 1891 census: living at Long Acre, Bingham, three children, William (3), Sam (2) and Walter (6m). 1901 census: living at Fairfield Road, Bingham, with two more children, John L (6) and Elizabeth (1). 1911 census, living at Morrises Row, Chapel Lane, Bingham, with one further child, Ethel (10).

Military History

Killed in action near Beaumont Hamel. Buried in Ancre British Cemetery (grave ref 6.D.28). Awarded British War Medal and Victory Medal.
