Family History

Arthur Mosley was born in 1892 the son of Benjamin a coal miner and his first wife the late Louisa Mosley née Hawkins of 10 Albert Street Stapleford Nottinghamshire. Benjamin was born in 1856 at Wednesbury, Staffordshire and Louisa Hawkins was born in 1854 at Smethwick, married in 1875 at Dudley and went on to have the following children, all of whom were born at Bramcote, Joseph b1879, William b1881, Mary Louisa b1883, Ada b1885, Ethel b1887, Benjamin b1888, Frederick b1890, Arthur b1892 and Maud b1893. His mother Louisa died in 1896 at Bramcote. His father re married in 1899 to Isabella Stavert Kennedy they went on to have a further child, Isabella born 1901 at Bramcote. In 1911 the family are living at 10 Albert Street, Stapleford, Benjamin a coal miner, he is living with his wife Isabella and his children, Benjamin a general labourer, Frederick a baker, Arthur a threader, Maud a threader and Isabella a scholar. Arthurs sole legatee was his sister, Louisa Anderson.

Military History

Pte. Arthur Mosley, enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 1/1st South Nottinghamshire Hussars, his medal index card shows he first entered a theatre of war in Egypt on 21st April 1915, he died of wounds at sea on 1st September 1915. He is commemorated on the Helles Memorial.
