Family History

He was the son of Henry, a railway guard, and Hannah Blatherwick (née Townsend) of 16 Burnaby Street, Old Basford, Nottingham. Henry was born in 1867 at Aslockton, Hannah in 1870 at Whatton in the Vale . Married in 1893 at Nottingham, they had six children five surviving infancy - George James b.1893 Aslockton, Henry b.1896 Aslockton, Arthur b.1899 Nottingham, Maggie b.1901 Nottingham and Walter b.1905 Old Basford. 2, Lindum Grove, Nottingham. In 1911, they lived at 3, Mandalay Street, Old Basford, Nottingham. Henry was a hosiery trimmer, George's other siblings were still at school.

Military History

George James Blatherwick enlisted at Nottingham and died of wounds. He is buried in Roye New British Cemetery, Marchelepot, Memorial 57.
