Family History

Arthur Marriott was born in 1891 the son of Samuel Robinson a blast furnace worker and Jane Marriott née Bramwell and the brother of Samuel and Bernard Marriott. Samuel Robinson Marriott was born in 1857 at Mexborough, Yorkshire, Jane Bramwell was born in 1862 at Mansfield, married in 1881 at Mansfield In 1911 they lived at 28 Derby Road Stapleford Nottinghamshire.

Military History

Private Arthur Marriott enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number 819 in The South Notts Hussars. He died of wounds on 8th November 1917 in Mesopotamia whilst serving with the 20th Squadron Machine Guns Corps. His name is commemorated on the Basra Memorial, Iraq.
