London - Estate Duty Office (Shepherd's Bush)
This beautiful memorial was originally in the Estate Duty Office at Minford House, Shepherd's Bush, London. Dedication: ‘In proud remembrance of the men of this office who died for their country in the Great War (names)’ and 'They only knew that not through them should England come to shame. Faithful unto death’. The memorial was moved to HMRC Fitzroy House, Nottingham, when the office was re-located from Minford House along with many staff during the early 1990s. The memorial is included within this archive because it was entrusted to Nottingham for safe keeping and records stories which may otherwise have been untold. Research by Rachel Farrand and Peter Gillings who also took the photographs.
