Family history

Goeffrey Cuttle was born on 20th April 1893 at Wanstead, he was the son of George acivil servant and Mary Cuttle née Hewson, of Wanstead, Essex.

His father George was born in 1865 at Bow, London, his mother Mary Hewson was born in 1863 at Romford, they were married in 1893 at West Ham, they went on to have 7 children, sadly two were to die in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 8 Gordon Road, Wanstead, George 46 yrs is working at India Office, London he is living with his wife Mary 48 yrs and their children, William Linsdell 14 yrs a scholar, Harold Hewson 11 yrs, Ralph 8 yrs and Cecilia 4 years of age.

In the same 1911 census Geoffrey 17 yrs has left the family home he is a scholar at Oakley House at Snaresbrook.

Military history

Served with the 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment formerly Private in the London Regiment (Artists' Rifles) he died on 13th/14th March 1915 His name is commemorated on the Le Touret memorial, France
