Family History

James Waring (junior) was born on 5th November 1897 at Spondon, he was baptised on 19th December 1897 at Spondon parish church, he was the son of James Waring (senior) a waterworks labourer and Ada Waring née Hobster of 40 Latham Street, Bulwell. His father James Waring (senior) was born in 1875 at Bolton, Lancashire, his mother Ada Hobster was born in 1875 at Nottingham, they were married on 22nd May 1897 at Werburghs Church, Spondon, they went on to have 4 children. In the 1911 census the family are living at 40 Latham Street, Bulwell, James 36 yrs is a waterworks labourer he is living with his wife Ada 36 yrs and their children, James 13 yrs an errand boy, Nestor 11 yrs a scholar, Alice Betsy 10 yrs and Charles 3 yrs of age.

Military History

Private James Waring enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Bulwell, he served with the 10th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 13th October 1917. Age 20.having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium. Panel 99 to 102 and 162 to 162A.
