Family History

George Moreman was born in 1894 at Bulwell, Nottingham, he was the son of James a coal miner hewer and Mary Ann Moreman née Barnfield of 16 Fitzroy Terrace, Milton Street, Bulwell James was born in 1852 at Dudley, Mary Ann Barnfield was born in 1854 at Princess End, Stafordshire, they were married on 13th April 1875 at St Matthews Church, Wolverhampton, they had 8 children, sadly one was to die in infancy or early childhood. In the 1911 census the family were living at 16 Fitzroy Terrace, Milton Street, Bulwell, James 59 yrs is a coal miner hewer, he is living with his wife Mary Ann 57 yrs and 5 of their children including George 17 yrs a pot thrower.

Military History

Rifleman George Morman enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 9th battalion King’s Royal Rifle Corps, he was killed in action on 20th March 1916 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
