Family History

Frederick Charles Hulbert was born in 1885 at Nottingham, he was the son of Charles Henry Hulbert a carriage maker and Mary Hulbert née Marshall, of 8 Devon Street, Sneinton, Nottingham. His father Charles Henry was born in 1855 at London, his mother Mary Marshall was born in 1856 at Ruddington, they were married in 1876 at Radford and went on to have 8 children. They later lived at 589 Sneinton Hill, Nottingham. Frederick married Margaret Elizabeth Farmer (born 1st December 1884) they were married in 1903 at Nottingham, they lived at 30 Cavendish Street, Hucknall they had the following children, Florence Ethel born 19th April 1904, Frederick born 20th July 1907, Annie Mary born 23rd August 1909, Ernest born 9th June 1911 and Henry born 17th June 1914 he died on 16th September 1915. In the 1911 census the family are living at 51 Bombay STREET, St Ann’s Well Road, Frederick Charles is 30 yrs and a fitters labourer, he is living with his wife Margaret 26 yrs and their children, Florrie 6 yrs, Fred 23 yrs and Annie 1 year of age. His widow was awarded a pension of 24 shillings and 6 pence a week which commenced on 29th November 1915, the family later lived at 1 Charles Terrace, Spring Road, Bulwell

He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
