Family History

George Frederick Wagg was born in 1887 the son of Frederick a hotel manager and Hannah Wagg (née Huish). His father was born in 1861 at Hucknall, his mother in 1863 at Nottingham. Married in 1883, they had seven children - Wilfred b.1884, George Frederick b.1887, Hannah b.1889, Cyril Horace b.1894 (killed in action 16/8/1917), Selina b.1898 (died 1908 aged 10) John b.1899 and Harold b.1904. In 1911, the family, including Hannah’s 77 year old mother, was living at 345 St Ann's Well Road, Nottingham.

Extra Information

His brother Cyril Horace Wagg also served and died in the 'Great War, he served with the 8th battalion Northumberland Fusiliers he was killed in action on 16th August 1917 and his name is commemorated on the Tynne Cott Memorial.
