Edward Stanley Morley was born in 1892 the son of Eli a stoker in a bleach yard and Mary Morley née Marriott, they lived at 39 Vernon Ave, Old Basford, Nottingham. His parents were born and married in Basford. Edward was the brother of William b.1876, Rebecca b.1881, John b.1884, Eli b.1886, George b.1889, Ethel b895, and James b.1898. In 1911 they lived at 39 Vernon Avenue Old Basford.

Military History

Edward Morley enlisted at Nottingham serving (53111) in the North Staffordshire Regiment before transferring to the 9th Battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. He died of wounds received two days earlier.

Honnechy British Cemetery Grave Reference II C 23 Obituary published in the Nottingham Evening Post dated 24th March 1919 :- “MORLEY. – In loving memory of Pte. Edward Morley, K.O.Y.L.I., wounded March 22nd, died March 24th, 1918.
