Family History

Harold Richardson was born in 1881 at Nottingham and was the son of Robert Richardson a joiner and his first wife Sarah Richardson née Percival of 605 Berridge Road West, Hyson Green, Nottingham. His father Robert was born in 1855 at Staithes, Yorkshire, his mother Sarah Percival was born in 1858 at Manchester, she died in 1897 aged 42 yrs they were married on 15th May 1890 at Harpurhay, Manchester, they went on to have the following children, Harold b1881, Robert b1884, William b1886, Ernest b1888 and Percival b1889 all were born in Nottingham. His father Robert married his second wife Emily Bell in 1898 their marriage was recorded in the Nottingham registration district, they went on to have a son Edward born in 1906 at Nottingham. In the 1911 census his father and new wife were living at 605 Berridge Road West, Hyson Green, Nottingham and were shown as Robert 56 yrs a joiner, he is living with his second wife Emily 37 yrs and his children, Percival 22 yrs a joiner and Edward 5 yrs of age. In the same 1911 census we find that Harold has left the family home and is serving in the Army, he is at Hillsborough barracks, Sheffield and is shown as being 30 yrs single and a Sergeant in the 2nd battalion Northumberland Fusiliers.

Military History

Sergeant Harold Richardson enlisted ast Derby, he served with the 12th battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 3rd July 1916 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Theipval Memorial, Somme, France.
