He was the son of Francis and Eliza Ann Peel and the brother of Abraham, Frederick, Agnes Ann, Amelia Susannah, George Henry and Constance Peel. In 1911 they lived at 'The Cottages' Normanton Grange Normanton on Soar Leicestershire and later at 25 Berridge Avenue Berridge Road West Hyson Green Nottingham.
Private Frank Edward Peel, enlisted in Nottingham and served with the 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire) Regiment (Welbeck Rangers), he died of wounds on 7th August 1917. He is buried in Mendinghem Military Cemetery.
In memoriam published 7th August 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “PEEL. – In affectionate remembrance of my dear son, Pte. Frank Peel, Sherwood Foresters, died of wounds in France August 7th, 1917.
