George Henry Hurt

George Henry Hurt was born in 1894 at Carrington and was the son of Herbert Greaves a lace hand and Louisa Hurt née Bennett of 64 Constance Street, Basford. His father Herbert Greaves Hurt was born in 1858 at Radford, his mother Louisa Bennett was born in 1857 at Beeston, they were married in 1878 their marriage was recorded in the Radford registration district, they went on to have 9 children, sadly one died in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were Emma b1878,Arthur b1879, Elizabeth b1880, Rose b1882, Edmund b1884, Lottie b1889, George Henry b1894 and Herbert b1900. In the 1911 census the family lived at at 64 Constance Street Basford Nottingham and were shown as Herbert 53 yrs a lace hand, he is living with his wife Louisa 54 yrs a plain net mender and their children, Arthur 34 yrs a sawyer, Lottie 21 yrs a plain net mender, George Henry 17 yrs a labourer and Herbert 10 yrs a scholar. George Henry married his wife Sarah Jane Bradshaw (born 24th March 1896) in 1916 at Nottingham, they lived at 46 Suez Street, New Basford. Following his death his widow Sarah Jane was awarded a pension of 13 shillings and 9 pence a week which commenced on 13th August 1917. His widow re married on 18th May 1918 to William Seagrave a coal miner and ex soldier.
