Family History

Cyril was born at West Stockwith in 1900, the son of Robert William a chemical works plumber and Harriett Annie Shaw (nee Pyecroft) . He had seven siblings :- Wilfred born 1887,Elsie born 1890,Dora born 1893,Percy born 1895,Doris born 1898,William born 1903 and Annie born 1907.In the 1911 census we find the family living at Myrtle House, West Stockwith he is 10 years of age and a scholar and his father is now a widow.

Military History

Cyril enlisted into the Army at Nottingham, and served with the 53rd battalion Sherwood Foresters and while on home service he died on 27th October 1918 and is buried in the Misterton Cemetery
