Family History

Samuel was born at Craiselound in 1886, the son of George a chemical works labourer by trade and Emily Cooper (nee Revill). He had 7 siblings :- George born 1880,Laura born 1883,Edith born 1887,Bertha born 1890,Mabel born 1893,Walter born 1896 and Elsie born 1897.In the 1911 census the family are shown living at Main Street, West Stockwith Samuel is 24 years of age, single and a chemical works labourer.

Military History

Samuel enlisted in 1916 at Gainsborough, he served with the 1st battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment and was killed in action on 29th April 1918 and is buried in Brandhoek New Military Cemetery,Belgium
