Thomas William is his full name but only William is given on the memorial,he was born in 1893 at Pulham Market in Norfolk. We only know that his mother was called Hannah Bartram no details have been found regarding his father. His mother lived with her parents Samuel and Maria Bartram at Tivetshall St Mary in Norfolk so it would appear she never married.He had a sister Ellen Jane. In the 1911 census the family are still living with their grandfather Samuel who is a widow by this time and gives his occupation as farm labourer.They are still living at Tivetshall St Mary and Ellen is 27 years and single and William is 24 years single and a farm labourer.

Military History

He enlisted at Gainsborough and served with the 2nd Battalion,Lincolnshire Regiment and was killed in action on 10th march 1915.
