Family History

Peter Alexander was born in Dumbarton, Scotland in 1891. His parents were Peter a house joiner, and Ellen Alexander and in 1901, the three of them were living at 63 Newhouse, St Ninians, Sterling with other Alexander children, Mary D born 1894, Govan, Lanark and Jas P M born 1899 at Strahblane, Stirlingshire. Ten years later, Peter Alexander junior had moved down to England living at Huton Hills Totley Rise Nr Sheffield with his uncle, William Alexander. William was a managing director of a silversmiths factory and Peter appears to be employed by him as a silver & electro plate traveller. In 1913 Peter married, registered in Sheffield, to Edith Louisa Bishop.

Military History

Peter Alexander enlisted in Sheffield in the North Staffordshire Regiment No. 23172. He was later transferred to the 2nd Battalion of the Lincolnshire Regiment. He was in France when he was killed in action and buried in St Souplet British Cemetery 1.E.23
