Family History

William was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire in 1875 the son of Joseph and Mary Farrar, he was married to Nellie Spouncer who came from Gainsborough in Lincolnshire,they were married in Blackwell, Derbyshire in 1909 . He was educated at the Gainsborough Grammar school and went to Glasgow University where he took degrees in M B and Ch.B. He practised in Lancashire and in Devon before moving to Misterton where he was in private practice.

Military History

William accepted a commission as Lieutenant in the Royal Army Medical Corps After serving for a time in Mesopotamia he was sent to India to run an army hospital In Bombay and it was while here he contracted cholera from which he died in August 1916.His name is commemorated on the Kirkee memorial in India
