Family History

William George York was born in 1888 the son of the late George Tepler York and of Mary York née Frost and the brother of Betsy, Florence, Annie Amelia, Walter and Albert James York. In 1911 they lived at 16 Rutland Grove Stapleford Nottinghamshire. George Tepler was born in 1853 at Spatton, Northamtonshire, he died in 1900 aged 47 yrs, Mary Ann Frost was born in 1858 at Ilkeston, married on 22nd April 1878 at Stanton by Dale, Derbyshire. He married Hilda Taylor (born 31st March 1889) on 5th September 1912 at Stapleford they lived at 181 College Street, Long Eaton

Military History

Private Wiliam George Yorks enlisted on 9th December 1915 at Long Eaton, giving his age as 28 yrs and 5 months he was a lace draughtsman, his next of kin was his wife Hilda he was posted to the reserves. Mobilised for war on 20th January 1917 he was posted to the remounts squadron of the Army Service Corps and on 24th joined them at Romsey, Hampshire. He was discharged from the army with sickness on 7th July 1917 and his death was registered at Shardlow A/M/J/1918.
