John Wheat (junior) was born in 1893 the son of John Wheat (senior) and Elsie (Evelyn) Wheat née Alcock and the brother of Charles, Alice, George Robert, Evelyn Kitty May, Gladys and Florence Annie Wheat of 28 Moorbridge Lane Stapleford Nottinghamshire. John Wheat (senior) was born in 1871 at Rocester, Elsie Alcock was born in 1875 at Liverpool, married in 1892 their marriage was recorded in the Uttoxeter registration district. In 1911 the family are living at 3 Moorbridge Lane, Stapleford, John is an iron furnace filler and his son John is a coal miner ganger.

Military History

Private John Wheat enlisted at Nottingham, he was killed in action on 29th October 1916 his name is commemorated on the Theipval Memorial, Somme, France
