Family History

George Watson was born in 1888 he was the son of John a foreman platelayer and Sarah Watson née Stocks and the brother of Ernest and Emma Watson of 19 Lower Orchard Street Stapleford Nottinghamshire. John was born in 1859 at Pinxton, Sarah Stocks was born in 1860 at Farnsfield, they were married in 1883 their marriage was recorded in the Farnsfield registration district, they had 3 children. In 1911 the family were living at 19 Lower Orchard Street, Stapleford, John 52 yrs is a railway foreman platelayer, living with his wife Sarah 51 yrs and their 3 children, George 23 yrs a railway labourer, Ernest 21 yrs a labourer at an iro works and Emma 19 yrs a lace worker.

Military History

Private George Watson enlisted at Long Eaton, he served with the 4th battalion Seaforth Highlanders, he was killed in action on 8th September 1917, he is buried at Bard Cottage Cemetery, Belgium. C
