Family History

Walter Joseph Brewer Summerlin was born in 1882 the son of William Harvey a labourer and Mary Zipah Summerlin née Brewer of 11 Cross Street, Stapleford and the brother of George and Walter Summerlin. William Harvey was born in 1852 and Mary Brewer was born in 1855 both were born in Buckingham, married on 18th February 1873 at St Peters Church, Cranfield. Walter Joseph Brewer married his wife Sarah Ann Bartlam (born 1881 Langley Mill and died in 1918) in 1900 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they lived at North Street, Kirkby in Ashfield and had the following children Mary Elizabeth b1902, Eveline b1904, Frederick Maycock b1908 and John Maycock b1911. In 1911 his wife Sarah Ann was living at 47 Mansfield Street, Kirkby in Ashfield , she is a servant, 30 yrs of age and a house keeper for the head of the house Elijah Maycock a widow, she is living at the address with her children, Mary Elizabeth and Eveline. His sole legatee is Emily Dixon

Military History

Private Walter Summerlin enlisted at Nottingham, landing in France on 26th July 1915 he died between 14-17th September 1916 and is buried in Guards Cemetery, Lesboeufs, France.
