Family History

Harold Ernest Longmire was the son of the Henry Arthur and Alice Cook (died 1900 aged 34 yrs ) Longmire née Dunn, his parents were married in 1883 in Nottingham and had 4 children, Henry James b1885 Nottingham, Ethel b1887 in Nottingham and William Tom b1889 and died 1900. In 1901 they lived on Halls Road Stapleford Nottinghamshire. His father Henry Arthur died in 1910 in the Shardlow Registration district he was 44 yrs of age Harold Ernest married Florence Alice Dunn on 22nd December 1914 in Sneinton and they went on to have a daughter Alice born in 1915 in Nottingham.

Military History

Private Harold Ernest Longmire, enlisted on 15th September 1914 in Canada , he gave his brother as next of kin, Henry James Longmire, of Condolobin, New South Wales. He served with the 2nd Canadian Infantry Battalion. He had been wounded previously, on 15th June 1915 at Givenchy, a gunshot wound to his right knee. Two periods of absence following his recovery led to him losing the rank of corporal, reverting to private. he died of wounds at No. 13 Australian Field Ambulance, shell wounds to his head, on 4th September 1916.
