Allen Hall was born in 1894 the son of the late Henry and Sarah Ann Hall née Danks Henry Hall was born in 1866 he died in 1900 aged 34 yrs, Sarah Ann Danks was born in 1868 at Dudley, married on 2nd February 1890 at Ilkeston they had the following children, Allen b1894, Thomas b1895, Edward Clarence b1897, Ada b1898, Elizabeth b1900 and Ellen b1901 all were born at Ilkeston except Allen born at Stapleford, His mother re married in 1903 to Samuel Grimble their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district they lived at 70 Little Hallam Lane Ilkeston Derbyshire.

Military History

Lance Corporal Allen Hall enlisted at Derby whilst residing at Ilkeston, he was killed in action on 1st July 1916 the first day of the Battle of the Somme, he is buried at Bailleul Road East Cemetery, St. Laurent-Blangy, France. Plot II. Row F. Grave 15.

Extra Information

His brother Private Edward Clarence Hall PO/18343 Royal Marine Light Infantry died on 9th November 1918 when his ship 'HMS Britannia was sunk, his name is commemorated on the Portsmouth Memorial.
