Albert Leslie Grundy was born in 1897 was the son of Thomas a levers lace maker and Lizzie Grundy née Penniston of 3 Frederick Street, Stapleford. Thomas was born in 1873 at Sandiacre, Lizzie Penniston was born in 1871 at Saxby, Leicestershire, married on 6th August 1896 at Sandiacre and had two further children, Eric Roland born 1901 and Cyril Ivan born 1903

Military History

Private Albert Leslie Grundy enlisted at Long Eaton, he initially served with the service number 42432 in the Royal Scots Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 28th March 1918 and is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial.
