Leonard Cosway

Leonard Cosway was born in 1876 the son of Frederick a foreman lace dresser and Annie Cosway née Thorpe of 30 Beverley Street, St Ann's , Nottingham. Frederick was born in 1853 in Tiverton, Devon, Annie Thorpe was born in 1854 in Nottingham, married on 14th December 1875 in Nottingham and went on to have the following children all born in Nottingham, Leonard b1876, Louis b1878, Herbert Allen b1880, Minnie b1884, Eleanor b1886, Emily b1889 and Frederick Victor b1897. His father Frederick died in 1897 in Nottingham , he was 43 yrs old. Leonard married Eliza Ann Cavey (born 20th January 1869) in Nottingham in 1907 she had previously been married and brought 5 children to the marriage, they had two children of their own Florence Ann born 16th November 1908 in Stapleford and Emily May born 18th March 1912. In 1911 the family lived at 25 Eaton Road Stapleford Nottinghamshire, Leonard 37 yrs a scavenger working for the county council living with his wife Elizabeth 41 yrs born Burton upon Trent and his step children, Arthur Henry a foundry worker, Ethel Elizabeth a spring mattress maker, Walter a scholar, Ernest a scholar, Doris 8 yrs and their daughter Florence Annie 2 yrs. Commencing 25th July 1916 his widow Elizabeth was awarded a pension of 27 shillings and 6 pence a week she was living at 18 Balfour Road, Stapleford, Nottingham.
