He was the son of Leonora Harrison (formerly) Harker. In 1911 they lived with her second husband and family at 35 Guthrie Street Radford Nottingham. Harold married his wife Mary Ann Rhodes (born 7th May 1882) in 1912 in Nottingham, they lived at 7 Boswell Street Radford, they had the following children, Harold Gordon born 26th November 1912, Wiliam Leslie born 17th December 1914 and Ernest Stanley born 21st January 1916. Following his death his widow Mary Ann was awarded a pension of 29 shillings and 7 pence a week which commenced on 23th March 1919.
Sapper Harold Harker, served with the 85th Field Company Royal Engineers, he died in No. 74 Casualty Clearing Station, Palestine, on 16th September 1918 from “injuries while on active service” He is buried in Jerusalem War Cemetery.
In memoriam published 16th September 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “HARKER. – In loving memory of Harold, R.E., died of injuries in Palestine, September 16th, 1918.
