Jesse Stevenson

Jesse was the eldest son of Jesse and Emma Stevenson née Whitehead of 72 St Albans Road, Arnold, Nottingham, the family having previously lived at Morris Street, Arnold. Jesse senior was born in 1855 at Redhill and worked as an agricultural labourer, while his wife Emma was born in 1857 in Arnold, they were married in 1887 the marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration district, they had the following children all of whom were born in Arnold , Clara b1888, Jesse b1889, Emma b1891, Alice b1892 and George Arthur b1894. In 1911 the family was living at 72 St Albans Road, Arnold and were shown as Jesse 56 yrs a pit banksman, he is living with his wife Emma 55 yrs and their children Clara 22 yrs a chevenor in the hosiery trade, Jesse 21 yrs a pit banksman, Emma 20 yrs a blouse factory machinist, Alice 19 yrs a blouse factory machinist and George Arthur 17 yrs an unemployed laundry worker. Jesse emigrated to Australia from the Port of London on 13th February 1914 aboard Orsova of the Orient Line recorded on the passenger list as a twenty four year old miner.
