Father:William henry Shaw, born in 1868 at Nottingham, working as a Corporation labourer. Mother: Elizabeth Shaw, born in 1868 in Nottingham. Brothers:James, born in 1895, Leonard, born in 1897 and Charlwy, born in 1904. Sisters: Amy, born in 1890, Florrie, born in 1902 and Elsie, born in 1906. All the children were born in Nottingham. The family lived at 16 Eugene Street, Nottingham before moving to 77 Crocus Street, Meadows, Nottingham.

Military History

Pte. Shaw volunteered for service and following training he was drafted to France, arriving on 09/09/1915. He was killed in action a mere two weeks later when the battalion was involved in heavy fighting during the Battle of Loos. His body was never recovered, but his name was commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
