Harry Sansom was the son of Harry and Ellen Sansom who married at Nottingham in 1884. Their five children were Ernest (b.1886), Charles Henry (b.1887), twins Harold (b.1892) and William (b.1892) and Walter (b.1899). The Sansom family lived at; 18 Clifford Street, Radford [C.1891]; 8 Independent Terrace, Radford [C.1901]; 21 Wallan Street, Radford [C.1911]. A death notice for Private Samson gave his parents’ address as 3 Ben Street, Radford [n.e.p.2.2.1916]. Harry Sansom, who worked as an iron moulder, died at Nottingham, aged 64, in 1930. His wife, Ellen, died at Nottingham, aged 84 in 1946.
Driver Harold Sansom, served with the 317th Mechanical Transport Company, Army Service Corps, he died in a motor accident at St. Martin, Osmonville, France on 26th January 1916. He is buried in Abbeville Communal Cemetery, France, grave reference III E 4
Obituary published in the Nottingham Evening Post dated 2nd February 1916 reads :- “SANSOM. - On January 26th, Driver H. Sansom, A.S.C., Mechanical Transport, accidentally killed in motor smash in France, beloved son of H. and E. Sansom, 5 Ben Street, Nottingham.
