John Robert Clark was born in 1883 at Nottingham, he married Lily Wardle (born 23rd April 1884) in 1907 at Nottingham, they lived at 33 Rossington Road Sneinton Nottingham and had a son Sydney born 25th February 1911. In the 1911 census the family were living at 27 Port Arthur Road, Sneinton, John Robert is 28 yrs and a lace salesman, he is living with his wife Lily 26 yrs and their son Sydney 2 months old. Commencing 19th November 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 18 shillings and 9 pence a week.

Military History

Private John Robert Clark, enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 18th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 3rd May 1917 and his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
