Family History

Edward was born in 1894 in Nottingham and was the youngest son of John Harrison a draper and hosier and Annie Harrison. His father John was born in 1862 at Blyth in Nottinghamshire, his mother Annie had been born in 1860 In Long Sutton Lincolnshire, in the 1911 census they stated they had been married for 27 yrs ( C 1884 ) and had had 5 children , sadly 1 died in infancy or childhood prior to 1911 , their children were : - John b1885 Bury Lancashire, Harry b1887 Gainsborough, Lincs, Walter b1889 Bury Lancashire, May b1892 Nottingham and Edward b1894 Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 12 Millicent Road, West Bridgford, Annie Harrison is 51 yrs of age , and is shown as married she is living with three of her children at the address , Harry 24 yrs a gents outfitters assistant, May 19 yrs a milleners assistant and Edward 17 yrs an assistant gents outfitter, also at the address at this time is Nellie Mitchell 28 yrs a widow a ladies outfitters assistant and Edith Hall a 25 yrs old general domestic assistant. Military History

Rifleman R/4714 Edward Harrison enlisted in Nottingham and served with the machine gun section in the 13th battalion Kings Royal Rifle Corps , he landed in France on 30th July 1915 and joined the British Expeditionary Force. He was killed in action on 18th December 1915 and is buried in Hannescamps Churchyard, France grave reference B 9

Obituaries Nottingham Evening Post dated 23rd December 1915:- “HARRISON. – Killed in action, December 19th, Rifleman Edward Harrison, 4714, 13th Battalion, King's Royal Rifles, aged 21 years, the dearly beloved youngest son of the late John and Mrs. Annie Harrison, of Hockley, and 11, George-road. – From his sorrowing mother and sister. “HARRISON. – Killed in action, December 19th, Rifleman Edward Harrison, 13th Battalion, King's Royal Rifles, the dear brother of Jack and Jenn Harrison, of Radcliffe-road. Sadly missed. “HARRISON. – Killed in action December 19th, in France, Rifleman Ted Harrison, Machine Gun Section, 13th King's Royal Rifles.
