Albert Makin

Albert Makin was born in 1893 in Nottingham he was the son of the late Peter and Elizabeth Annie Makin née Hayes of 44 Queen's Road Meadows Nottingham. His father Peter was born in 1849 in Daybrook, his mother Elizabeth Annie Hayes was born in 1851 in Nottingham , they were married in 1870 in Nottingham and went on to have 11 children , sadly three of whom died in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were : Eliza b1871, William b1873, Elizabeth b1875, Gertrude b1880, George b1882, Peter b1884, Leonard b1889 and Albert b1893. His father died in 1906 in Nottingham he was 57 yrs of age In the 1911 census his family are living at 44 Queens Road, Meadows, Nottingham and are shown as Elizabeth Annie 60 yrs head of the family she is a widowed curtain dresser, she is living with her married son Peter 27 yrs a warehouse clerk , her daughter Gertrude 32 yrs her son Albert 18 yrs a warehouse clerk her daughter in law Mable 26 yrs and grandchildren Harold 18 yrs, and Leonard 6 yrs. He married his wife Marguerite Waplington in 1916 in Nottingham , they had a daughter Dorothy born in 1916. His wife was to die in 1918 she was only 24 yrs of age. His mother was recorded as the guardian of his child in the register of the disposal of his personal effects. It seems that Marguerite Makin (née Waplington) died during the Spanish Influenza pandemic.
