Albert Amos Hill was born in 1894 he was the son of the late Edward an agricultural labourer and Eliza Hill néé Bird (later Young) of Fairfield Street Bingham Nottinghamshire. Edward was born in 1857 at Scalford, Leicestershire, he died in 1899 aged 42 yrs, Eliza Bird was born in 1860 at Bourn Fen, Lincolnshire, they were married in 1880 their marriage was recorded in the Melton Mowbray registration district, they went on to have 7 children.

Military History

Private Albert Amos Hill enlisted at Burton on Trent and served with the 7th battalion North Staffordshire Regiment. He landed at Gallipoli on 18th September 1915 and was Killed in action on 25th January,1917 at retaking of Kut, Mesopotamia He is buried in Amara War Cemetery, grave reference 17.C.3.
