William Harrison was the son of W Harrison of 21 Trafalgar Terrace, Radford, Nottingham (pension record card )

Military History

Pte. William Harrison, 1/1st South Notts. Hussars, died in Egypt on 12th December 1917. He is buried in Kantara War Memorial Cemetery. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission record his date of death as being 12th November 1917. However, these family notices, (see below) 'Soldiers Died' and the register of the disposal of his personal effects all agree that he died on 12th December 1917.

Death notices published 15th December 1917 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “HARRISON. – Died of pneumonia, in Egypt, December 12th, Pte. W. Harrison, Hussars, the beloved son of W. Harrison, Trafalgar-street. “HARRISON. – Died of pneumonia, in Egypt, December 12th, Pte. W. Harrison, Hussars, our dear brother.” In memoriam published 12th December 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- HARRISON. – In loving memory of Pte. W. Harrison, South Notts. Hussars, died December 12th, 1917, at Kentara, of pneumonia.
